Appointments within the Structal-Bridges management team

Mario Bernard, President, Canam and Structal, is pleased to announce the following appointments within Structal-Bridges, a division of Canam Group.

Robin Lapointe

Robin Lapointe has been named General Manager of Structal-Bridges. He fills the vacancy created by the departure of Robert Dutil, who recently made the leap to provincial politics. Robin will have the mandate to develop the full potential of this business unit of Canam Group, ensure its growth and solidify its leadership position in bridge, structural bearing and expansion joint fabrication in Canada. As part of his new responsibilities, Robin will also ensure that Structal-Bridges benefits from increased visibility in the United States so that it can play a dominant role in this competitive market.

Robin had more than 20 years’ experience in the steel industry and in sales when he joined Canam Group in 1996, the year it acquired Structal Inc. Prior to his appointment as General Manager, Robin served as Assistant General Manager and Sales Manager for Structal-Bridges. His vast knowledge of Structal’s customers, products and market, his determination and his leadership qualities will serve him well in his new capacity.

Robert Richard

Robert Richard has been appointed General Manager of the Structal-Bridges plant in Claremont, NH. In his new role and with the support of his team, Robert will be responsible for optimizing the efficiency and increasing the capacity of fabrication operations to assist Structal-Bridges in achieving profitable growth and becoming a major player in the U.S. bridge sector.

Robert has gained solid management and leadership experience since he joined Canam Steel Corporation in 1995 as Plant Manager for the Point of Rocks joist and steel deck plant. He was Vice President and General Manager of the Point of Rocks plant from 2001 through to 2007, and most recently held the position of Vice President of Operations.

Robert’s expertise and in-depth knowledge of the steel industry will be a great asset to Structal-Bridges. He will report to Robin Lapointe, the newly appointed General Manager of Structal-Bridges.
